Forgery: A Tool for Engaging Computer Science Freshmen

Students enrolled in scientific or technical disciplines often exhibit a reasonably narrow focus of intellectual interest. The demands of a highly technical curriculum force them to pursue immediate concerns, sometimes to the detriment of a broad appreciation of the humanities. This work describes the creative use of forgery to introduce first year Computer Science students to both historic literature and its computational analysis. It also provides a continuing theme for classroom discussion.
